CaYAg2 crystallizes in the orthorhombic Immm space group. The structure is one-dimensional and consists of two CaYAg2 ribbons oriented in the (1, 0, 0) direction. Ca is bonded in a linear geometry to two equivalent Ag atoms. Both Ca–Ag bond lengths are 3.00 Å. Y is bonded in a linear geometry to two equivalent Ag atoms. Both Y–Ag bond lengths are 2.99 Å. Ag is bonded in a linear geometry to one Ca and one Y atom.
