Materials Data on Ge by Materials Project
Ge is Hg_xSn structured and crystallizes in the orthorhombic Cmmm space group. The structure is three-dimensional. Ge is bonded to eight equivalent Ge atoms to form a mixture of corner and edge-sharing GeGe8 hexagonal bipyramids. There are a spread of Ge–Ge bond distances ranging from 2.70–2.95 Å.
