Materials Data on Yb3Dy by Materials Project

Yb3Dy is beta Cu3Ti-like structured and crystallizes in the hexagonal P6_3/mmc space group. The structure is three-dimensional. Yb is bonded to eight equivalent Yb and four equivalent Dy atoms to form YbYb8Dy4 cuboctahedra that share corners with four equivalent DyYb12 cuboctahedra, corners with fourteen equivalent YbYb8Dy4 cuboctahedra, edges with six equivalent DyYb12 cuboctahedra, edges with twelve equivalent YbYb8Dy4 cuboctahedra, faces with four equivalent DyYb12 cuboctahedra, and faces with sixteen equivalent YbYb8Dy4 cuboctahedra. There are a spread of Yb–Yb bond distances ranging from 3.67–3.85 Å. There are two shorter (3.69 Å) and two longer (3.76 Å) Yb–Dy bond lengths. Dy is bonded to twelve equivalent Yb atoms to form DyYb12 cuboctahedra that share corners with six equivalent DyYb12 cuboctahedra, corners with twelve equivalent YbYb8Dy4 cuboctahedra, edges with eighteen equivalent YbYb8Dy4 cuboctahedra, faces with eight equivalent DyYb12 cuboctahedra, and faces with twelve equivalent YbYb8Dy4 cuboctahedra.
