Materials Data on LiBC by Materials Project
LiBC crystallizes in the hexagonal P6_3/mmc space group. The structure is one-dimensional and consists of two BC1 ribbons oriented in the (0, 0, 1) direction and one Li ribbon oriented in the (0, 0, 1) direction. In each BC1 ribbon, B3+ is bonded in a linear geometry to two equivalent C4- atoms. Both B–C bond lengths are 1.49 Å. C4- is bonded in a linear geometry to two equivalent B3+ atoms. In the Li ribbon, Li1+ is bonded in a linear geometry to two equivalent Li1+ atoms. Both Li–Li bond lengths are 1.49 Å.
