CaH2SiO4 crystallizes in the orthorhombic Fdd2 space group. The structure is two-dimensional and consists of four CaH2SiO4 sheets oriented in the (0, 0, 1) direction. Ca2+ is bonded in a 7-coordinate geometry to seven O2- atoms. There are a spread of Ca–O bond distances ranging from 2.36–2.64 Å. Si4+ is bonded in a 2-coordinate geometry to three O2- atoms. There are a spread of Si–O bond distances ranging from 1.62–2.36 Å. There are two inequivalent H1+ sites. In the first H1+ site, H1+ is bonded in a single-bond geometry to one O2- atom. The H–O bond length is 0.98 Å. In the second H1+ site, H1+ is bonded in a linear geometry to two O2- atoms. There is one shorter (1.03 Å) and one longer (1.57 Å) H–O bond length. There are five inequivalent O2- sites. In the first O2- site, O2- is bonded in a 4-coordinate geometry to two equivalent Ca2+ and two equivalent O2- atoms. There is one shorter (1.39 Å) and one longer (2.21 Å) O–O bond length. In the second O2- site, O2- is bonded in a distorted trigonal non-coplanar geometry to two equivalent Ca2+ and one Si4+ atom. In the third O2- site, O2- is bonded in a 2-coordinate geometry to one Ca2+, two equivalent Si4+, and one H1+ atom. In the fourth O2- site, O2- is bonded in a distorted water-like geometry to two equivalent Ca2+ and two H1+ atoms. In the fifth O2- site, O2- is bonded in a 4-coordinate geometry to two equivalent Ca2+ and two equivalent O2- atoms.
