Diode-pumped, single-frequency Cr:LiSrAlF{sub 6} ring laser

We report the development of a tunable, diode-pumped Cr:LiSrAlF{sub 6} ring laser that emits as much as 43 mW of power in a single longitudinal mode at 849 nm. By tuning the output with a birefringent filter, we achieved single-frequency operation from 810 to 860 nm.
