New data is shown for total and differential cross sections of the {ital pp}{r_arrow}{ital pn}{pi}{sup +} reaction very close to threshold. While no previous data for this channel has been published for proton lab energy less than 400 MeV, these data were taken at beam energies as low as 1.4 MeV above threshold. Thus, the data should be sensitive to s-wave {pi} production and to the dynamics of the {pi}NN vertex. A first analysis shows that the {Delta} resonance has a quite small effect on the angular distributions. {copyright} {ital 1995} {ital American} {ital Institute} {ital of} {ital Physics}.
