  1. Los Alamos National Lab. (LANL), Los Alamos, NM (United States)

To commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Trinity test, award-winning artist and graphic designer Paul Ziomek (Communication Arts and Services, CPA-CAS), illustrated an original poster. This one-of-a-kind work of art features Los Alamos Physicist Enrico Fermi witnessing the world’s first detonation of a nuclear device, the Gadget, on July, 16, 1945. This moment marked one of the greatest scientific achievements of all time and the dawn of the nuclear age. The work of those Los Alamos scientists – documented in their notebooks, photos, films, engineering drawings, and memos to each other – is part of the collections in the National Security Research Center, the Lab’s classified library located in the National Security Sciences Building.
