The ultimate aim of the research is to produce an ultra-low temperature refrigerator with superior cooling capacity and compact size, capable of supporting the most demanding cryogenic applications, such as cooling the large-scale quantum computers envisioned in the coming years. The Phase-I research summarized here focused on designing, building and testing two prototype components crucial to the development of the new refrigerator
