In the 21st Century, energy availability will be a world-wide concern. The economic health of any nation depends on an ample supply of low-cost energy to meet its electrical power, industrial, agricultural, and transportation needs. The determining forces at work in the energy dependence field are: growth, demographic patterns, economic incentives, electricity rate structure, mobility, energy production/consumption ratios, land use regulations, and air pollution rules and regulations. Renewable energy resources are becoming more viable based not only on ongoing improvements in technology, but from higher costs and greater depletion of nonrenewable resources.
