Using on-line systems expands the potential of instrumental methods for the determination of elements. A combination of rapidity in sample preparation (including sorption preconcentration) and diminution of the sample analyzed with the possibility of automation of analysis provides the priority development of on-line systems. The one-line conjunction of sorption preconcentration with photometric , flame AAS, and ICP-AES detection appears to be particularly convenient and simple. The aim of this work was to choose the conditions for preconcentration of rare-earth elements (REE) on sorbents with diethylenetriaminetetraacetate (DETATA) groups (in a cross-linked polystyrene or cellulose matrix) and for their subsequent on-line ICP-AES determination.
