Title: SWPlan{trademark} 2.1 Solid Waste Management Planning Software for Microsoft{reg_sign} Windows{trademark}

Conference ·
OSTI ID:161766

The SWPlan{trademark} program is used by solid waste management professionals as a planning tool. It can be used to compare the costs of different municipal solid waste management options. The information for different scenarios can be saved in data files for later retrieval. You can have two or more data files open at one time in order to compare costs of the different scenarios. Data is entered in dialog boxes which can be opened using the main menu. The General menu allows you to enter data about the area served by your solid waste management program, waste composition and quantity, collection, transportation, and management methods. The Recyclables menu allows you to specify the amount of each material which is recycled. It also allows you to enter information about the collection method, reject disposal, and recyclable product distribution. The Costs menu allows you to enter capital and operating costs for each facility or management method. You can also enter the cost of borrowing money by accessing the Costs menu. The Options menu allows you to specify fonts for the reports and to use the Windows Calculator. SWPlan{trademark} uses the data you enter about your scenario to create five reports. The reports are called the Overview, Waste Composition, Collection, Recycling, and Cost Reports. The overview report is shown by default when you open an existing data file or create a new one. The reports can be accessed through the Window menu. You can have more than one report open at once, each in a separate window. The reports contain written data, tables, bar charts, and pie charts. The current report can be printed by opening the File menu and choosing the Print command. The current data can be saved by opening the File menu and choosing Save or Save As. The data can be retrieved later by opening the File menu and choosing Open.
