ERDF Waste Disposal in the Central Plateau at the Hanford Site (Annual Status Report FY2012)

Washington Closure Hanford (WCH) operates the Environmental Restoration Disposal Facility (ERDF) to dispose of Hanford Site low-level radioactive, hazardous, or dangerous, and low-level mixed waste generated during waste site closures and some remediation activities from other Hanford Site contractors as authorized by the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act of 1980 (CERCLA). A CERCLA record of decision (ROD) (EPA 1995), including amendments (EPA, 1997, 1999, 2002, 2007, 2009), identifies the requirements associated with the facility.
