Environmental Radiological Air Monitoring Plan, PNNL Operations in Washington
- Battelle Pacific Northwest Labs., Richland, WA (United States)
This is the first revision of the Environmental Radiological Air Monitoring Plan (EMP) for Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) with radiological operations in Richland and at the Marine Science Laboratory in Sequim (MSL/Sequim Site), Washington. It describes environmental radiological air monitoring and surveillance activities for PNNL Operations in Richland and Sequim, Washington. Since the initial issuance of this EMP in 2011, the radiological operations changed, the boundaries in Richland and Sequim changed, and ambient air particulate and external dose monitoring stations, including background, were added in Richland. In addition, ambient air particulate and external dose surveillance is being considered at the Sequim Site in 2020. The Data Quality Objectives process was used as a basis for environmental surveillance changes. Dose Assessment for public and biota has now been added to the EMP. PNNL conducts environmental air surveillance monitoring as part of the two separate PNNL Site Radioactive Air Emissions Licenses, one for the Richland Campus and the other for the Marine Sciences Laboratory (MSL/Sequim Site). The EMP is a compilation of four documents, consisting of the Environmental Radiological Air Monitoring Plan (this main document) (PNNL-20919) and three attachments: the Sampling and Analysis Plan (PNNL-20919-1), the Data Management Plan (PNNL-20919-2), and the Dose Assessment Guidance (PNNL-20919-3).
