Modeling and Manipulating Phenylpropanoid Pathway Flux for Bioenergy

Technical Report ·
DOI:https://doi.org/10.2172/1597089· OSTI ID:1597089
We have made important strides toward our project goals over the past five years. First, we developed and published a novel isotopic feeding system to investigate metabolic fluxes of the lignin biosynthesis. Next, we have developed and published a kinetic model of the phenylpropanoid pathway. As an extension of that work, we developed a multilayer kinetic model of lignin biosynthesis. Next we conducted a systematic transcriptome and metabolome analysis for phenylpropanoid metabolism. Finally, we have identified three strategies that enhance the accumulation of 2-phenylethanol in plants.
