Exhibit concentrates on concave cylindrical elliptically curved pentaerythritol (PET) crystals, which are dispersion elements for the NXS spectrometer used in the National Ignition Facility at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. Their elliptical geometry gives several advantages related to spectral energy range. Bending the crystal can change the rocking curve. The crystal properties and the quality of the dispersion element build affect the spectrometer performance.
