Technical Directives for the Construction of Private Air Raid Shelters and the 1971 Conception of the Swiss Civil Defense

The report is primarily a translation of two Swiss documents that deal with civil defense preparedness. Part I conveys the contents of a small book of ''Technical Directives for the Construction of Private Air Raid Shelters'', issued by the Federal Department of Justice and Police Office of Civil Defense of Switzerland in 1966-67. The Swiss Federal Council authorized ORNL to translate and distribute the contents. A second report in 1971 was also authorized. This report was titled ''Report of the Federal Council to Parliament on the 1971 Conception of Civil Defense (of August 11, 1971)'' and is included as part II.
