The Los Alamos Quantum Random Number Generator (QRNG) extracts randomness from quantum fluctuations in the intensity of an optical source. These fluctuations are large enough to be detected using standard low-cost photodetectors, are very high bandwidth, and are fundamentally unpredictable in origin. As a result, the LANL QRNG can be manufactured affordably at scale, offers a very high output rate(200 Megabit/second or more), and is inherently unpredictable.
