- Prime Solutions Group, Inc.
Prime Solutions Group, Incorporated (PSG) has studied the smart grid in modeling, simulation, and Big Data Analytics research. Along this research path, we found that the power and energy utility industry is in the midst of a global transformation driven by a diverse set of market forces. These forces include ever-increasing levels of renewable energy (solar, wind) generation, energy storage technology, the Internet-of-things (IoT), electric automobiles, and growing concerns over cyber-physical protection. These challenges are compounded by the inherent Big Data environment that accompanies the new technology. The utility industry is at an inflection point of accelerating technology transformation and a changing business model in an industry that historically accommodates change on a 20-year horizon. PSG’s technology developed on this project addresses the above needs by integrating established modeling and simulation capability with Big Data technologies in a commercially viable software system. Advanced metering, secondary communications, and ancillary IoT data is the beneficiary of Big Data technologies that collect, archive, manage and analyze massive and growing amounts of data. The scope of this Final Technical Report details developments of software architecture and analytics capabilities by PSG under the DOE Phase II SBIR/STTR Grant for the April 10, 2017 to April 9, 2019 period of performance.
