Improving the luminosity for Beam Energy Scan II at RHIC
- Brookhaven National Lab. (BNL), Upton, NY (United States)
The QCD (Quantum Chromodynamics) phase diagram [1], one of the most im-portant graphs in nuclear physics, has many uncharted territories. In particular, the nature of the transformation from Quark-Gluon plasma (QGP) to the stateof Hadronic gas is totally unknown [2]. A beam energy scan [3,4], scanning thephase diagram with variable collision energy, has been conducted at RHIC toexplore the first-order phase transition and determine the location of a possible critical point.
