An HREELS and TPD study of water on TiO2(110): the extent of molecular versus dissociative adsorption

· Surface Science
Examines the interaction of water with the (110) crystal face of TiO2 (rutile) with HREELS and TPD and concludes that the results suggest that little or no water dissociates on the ideal TiO2(110) surface under UHV conditions. Also points out that the results indicate that second layer water significantly influences the vibrational and desorption properites of subsequent water layers up to about 5 layers.
