This program book serves as a technical report for the 13th International Conference on Tetrapyrrole Photoreceptors of Photosynthetic Organisms (ICTPPO2017), which took place in Chicago, July 9-13, 2017. This conference features eight scientific sessions that cover a wide range of topics on tetrapyrrole-based biological systems involved in light-harvesting, photosynthesis and their regulation. Each session starts with a plenary talk by a leading scientist in the field followed by 15-20 min short presentations. In terms of speaker selection, the organizers have placed special emphasis on featuring young scientists including early-career scientists, postdoc researchers and graduate students. All activities beyond oral presentations i.e. social events, meal times, poster sessions and excursion were planned to promote informal discussion and mentoring of young scientists.
