Excitation of isomeric states in the reaction ({gamma},n) for N=82 shell nuclei

The excitation of isomeric states in photoneutron reactions in investigated for N=82 shell nuclei. The cross sections for the reactions ({gamma}, n){sup m} are measured for {sup 138}Ba, {sup 142}Nd, and {sup 144}Sm in the energy range 8 - 18 MeV. The isomeric-yield ratios are considered as functions of energy. A significant decrease in the isomeric ratios with increasing N for these nuclei is associated with shell effects and with the contribution of semidirect processes. 19 refs., 3 figs.
