The probabilities of O{sup +}({sup 3}P{sub 1}), 1({sup 3}P{sub 2})-O{sup +}({sup 1}S{sub 0}) quasi-molecular radiative transitions are derived as functions of the interatomic distance in the framework of a semiempirical method for analyzing quasi-molecular terms with the use of experimental interaction potentials of resonantly excited Hg(6{sup 3}P{sub 1}) atoms with rare-gas atoms. A strong dependence of the probability on the interatomic distance is typical of the 1({sup 3}P{sub 2})-O{sup +}({sup 1}S{sub 0}) transition forbidden in the limit of separated atoms. 26 refs., 5 figs., 1 tab.
