The influence of nuclear-surface diffuseness and surface refraction on the integral cross sections for various deuteron-nucleus interactions and on differential cross sections for elastic and inelastic deuteron scattering by heavy nuclei is investigated. Experimental data on the scattering of 80-MeV deuterons by Zn and Pb nuclei are analyzed. 23 refs., 3 figs.
