J/{Psi} photoproduction on charmed quarks in a proton at high energies

Associated J/{Psi} photoproduction and open-charm photoproduction on charmed quarks in a proton via the subprocess {gamma}c{r_arrow}J/{Psi}c are considered in the framework of perturbative QCD and the nonrelativistic quark model. It is shown that the magnitude and energy dependence of the cross section for the process {gamma}p{r_arrow}J/{Psi}cX depend strongly on the choice of the distribution of charmed quarks in the proton. In the region of small z+E{sub J}/E{sub {gamma}}, the contribution of this mechanism to the inclusive cross section for J/{Psi} photoproduction is greater than the contribution of photon-gluon fusion. 12 refs., 5 figs.
