Measurement of the 𝜏 Neutrino Helicity and Michel Parameters in Polarized 𝑒+β’π‘’βˆ’ Collisions

Here, we present a new measurement of the 𝜏 neutrino helicity β„Žπœˆπœ and the 𝜏 Michel parameters 𝜌, πœ‚, πœ‰, and the product π›Ώβ’πœ‰. The analysis exploits the highly polarized SLC electron beam to extract these quantities directly from a measurement of the 𝜏 decay spectra, using the 1993–1995 SLD data sample of 4328 𝑒+β’π‘’βˆ’ →𝑍0 β†’πœ+β’πœβˆ’ events. From the decays 𝜏 β†’πœ‹β’πœˆπœ and 𝜏 β†’πœŒβ’πœˆπœ we obtain a combined value β„Žπœˆπœ = βˆ’0.93 Β±0.10 Β±0.04. The leptonic decay channels yield combined values of 𝜌 = 0.72 Β±0.09 Β±0.03, πœ‰ = 1.05 Β±0.35 Β±0.04, and π›Ώβ’πœ‰ = 0.88 Β±0.27 Β±0.04.
