This is a final report based on tasks supported by the Atmospheric System Research program (DOE Office of Biological and Environmental Research), DOE Award Number DE-SC0011690. This project has been focused on the following objectives: 1. Laboratory studies of immersion and contact nucleation of ice; 2. Investigation of the influence of time-dependence of ice nucleation on microphysical properties of Arctic and other thin, mixed-phase stratiform clouds; and 3. Theoretical and modeling studies of the conditions necessary for producing large droplets in clouds that can help initiate the collision—coalescence process.
