New Mexico Environmental Department (NMED) is providing statewide training to all entities that are currently or expecting to be covered by a National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Multi-Sector General Permit (MSGP). The purpose of the training is to educate facility personnel on permit requirements and methods to stay compliant with a permit. NMED has invited personnel from Los Alamos National Laboratory Environmental Protection & Compliance – Environmental Compliance Programs to assist with the statewide training by developing training materials and assist NMED in presenting the training sessions. The attached map mock-up and photos are intended as training materials for a mock MSGP routine facility inspection. In this exercise, participants will use the map and photos for a simulated field walk-down of a fictitious facility, the XYZ Widget Company’s Production Complex. Participants will learn elements of storm water flow paths, how to identify potential storm water issues, and document their findings in order to meet permit requirements.
