This paper describes the geology encountered as part of a geology field trip. The low glaciated knobs a few meters northwest along I-70 in Colorado expose thinly layered medium- and fine-grained hornblende and biotite gneisses and amphibolite cut by numerous light-colored anastomosing dikes. Many layers in the gneisses are conspicuously boudinaged and some display small and medium scale intrafolial isoclines. A string of 1--3 m long pods of coarse amphibolite probably represents a dismembered mafic sill or transposed dike. All of these features indicate intense layer parallel ductile deformation.
