  1. National Renewable Energy Lab., Golden, CO (United States)
The Alternative Fuels Data Center (AFDC), operated by the DOE-owned National Renewable Energy Laboratory is the central repository for results of vehicle demonstrations utilizing alternative fuels. Data being collected by the AFDC includes operating information on light-duty vehicles operating in the federal government fleets; transit buses generally purchased with funds form FTA; and heavy-duty trucks generally co-funded by DOE and private operating companies. As an example, by March of 1993 in the light-duty vehicle area alone, the AFDC will have collected as much as 2 years worth of data on over 600 vehicles operating on M-85 (85% ethanol and 15% unleaded gasoline). This information includes: Driver Daily Log (mileage, fuel consumption and performance); Dynamometer Tests (emissions and fuel economy); Maintenance Data; Lube Oil Analyses; Fuel Analyses, and On-board Data Acquisition. A presentation will be made of the data collection process, the quality assurance procedures enforced on the data, and the actual data base and accessing software used to allow the user easy, free, and useful access to the data.
