The sorption and transport of organic vapors in a series of stiff-chain glassy polyesters, which can exhibit nematic liquid crystalline order, is reported. Liquid crystalline order is found to reduce both solubility and diffusivity. These reductions are more marked in polymers whose molecular configuration permits higher than packing efficiency.
