Electronic structure of alkali and alkali-earth doped solid C{sub 60}
- NEC Corp., Ibaraki, (Japan)
First, the electronic structure of superconducting alkali-doped solid C{sub 60} (A{sub 3}C{sub 60} = K{sub 3}C{sub 60} Rb{sub 3}C{sub 60}, and Na{sub 2}CsC{sub 60}) obtained by using the local-density approximation in the density-functional theory will be reviewed with emphasis on their Fermi-level density of states, and will be compared to the experimental results. Secondly, the electronic structure of the Ca-doped solid C{sub 60} (Ca{sub 3}C60) as well as the endohedral metallofullerene C{sub 60}Ca will be reported. The difference between the electronic structure of A{sub 3}C{sub 60} and that of Ca{sub 3}C{sub 60} will be pointed out. The electronic structure of the superconducting phase of Ca-doped solid C{sub 60} and the possible mechanisms of the superconductivity of doped solid C{sub 60} will also be discussed. Finally, the electronic structure of the Ba{sub 6}C{sub 60} which has been reported to be superconducting will be also given.
