The solid solution series of La{sub 3{minus}x}M{sub x}Ni{sub 2}O{sub 7{minus}{delta}} (M=Ca{sup 2+}, Sr{sup 2+} and Ba{sup 2+}, 0 < x < 0.2) have been prepared through alkaline solution method. The phases were characterized by x-ray powder diffraction and the cell parameters were determined by least square refinement. The oxygen content was determined by TGA measurement and the iodometric titration. The electrical conductivity was measured with the four-probe technique. All the samples show a metal-semiconductor transition. The room temperature resistivity decreases with increasing the amount of divalent ions. The magnetic susceptibility showed Pauli ferromagnetic behavior from room temperature to 80K and then paramagnetic behavior at low temperature.
