Title: (2, 2) superconformal bootstrap in two dimensions

Abstract

We find a simple relation between two-dimensional BPS N = 2 superconformal blocks and bosonic Virasoro conformal blocks, which allows us to analyze the crossing equations for BPS 4-point functions in unitary (2, 2) superconformal theories numerically with semidefinite programming. Here, we constrain gaps in the non-BPS spectrum through the operator product expansion of BPS operators, in ways that depend on the moduli of exactly marginal deformations through chiral ring coefficients. In some cases, our bounds on the spectral gaps are observed to be saturated by free theories, by N = 2 Liouville theory, and by certain Landau-Ginzburg models.

  • We bootstrap N=(1,0) superconformal field theories in six dimensions, by analyzing the four-point function of flavor current multiplets. By assuming E 8 flavor group, we present universal bounds on the central charge C T and the flavor central charge C J. Based on the numerical data, we conjecture that the rank-one E-string theory saturates the universal lower bound on C J , and numerically determine the spectrum of long multiplets in the rank-one E-string theory. We comment on the possibility of solving the higher-rank E-string theories by bootstrap and thereby probing M-theory on AdS 7×S 4/Z 2 .
  • In the paper, SO(N)- and U(N)-invariant algebras of extended superconformal symmetry in two dimensions with arbitrary central charge are constructed. Besides the energy-momentum tensor, they contain only currents of dimensions 1 and 3/2.
  • A functional representation for the local supersymmetry transformations of the superconformal group in two dimensions is explicitly constructed. The representation kernel acts on functionals of both a commuting field and a Grassmann field.
  • In view of the Krichever-Novikov (KN) framework, we calculate the partition function for the {ital N}=1,{ital c}=3/2 superconformal model on the supertorus with two distinguished punctures. According to boundary conditions for fermionic fields around two punctures, partition functions are classified into the partition function for the Neveu-Schwarz sector {ital Z}{sub NS} and the partition function for the Ramond sector {ital Z}{sub R}. Considering the two insertions of fields as boundary conditions for the partition function in the KN construction, {ital Z}{sub NS} ({ital Z}{sub R}) is identical to the two-point function of vortex operators (spin fields) on the supertorus.
  • The algebra of OSP(1Vertical Bar2) x OSP(2Vertical Bar2) is given and all its matter multiplets are constructed. It is shown that only one multiplet can be used to form a two-dimensional superconformal gravity theory. The SP(2) x OSP(2Vertical Bar2) two-dimensional superconformal gravity is also constructed with the normal spin (0,1/2) matter multiplet as well as with a constrained multiplet that transforms nontrivially only under a subgroup of the SP(2) x OSP(2Vertical Bar2) group. These theories are quantized, and some of the consequences of anomalies in the conformal symmetries are analyzed in detail.
