Proposed water quality guidance for the Great Lakes system

The document provides opportunity for comment on the proposed Water Quality Guidance for the Great Lakes System (`Guidance`) developed under section 118(c)(2) of the Clean Water Act (CWA), as amended by section 101 of the Great Lakes Critical Programs Act of 1990 (CPA). The Guidance, once finalized, will establish minimum water quality standards, antidegradation policies, and implementation procedures for waters within the Great Lakes System in the States of New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Michigan, including the waters within the jurisdiction of Indian Tribes. The Great Lakes States and Tribes must adopt water quality standards, antidegradation policies, and implementation procedures for waters within the Great Lakes System which are consistent with the final Guidance.
