DOI:https://doi.org/10.2172/138140· OSTI ID:138140

This report presents a proposed strategy for the State of Nevada to identify and mitigate impacts related to the proposed Site Characterization activities of the US Department of Energy (DOE) at Yucca Mt. and its vicinity. The report was prepared in response to the directive of the Nevada Nuclear Waste Project Office (NWPO) of 2/14/89 to prepare environmental guidance for use in evaluating the suitability of areas chosen by DOE for surface disturbing activities and the acceptability of reclamation measures. As such, this report response to issues raised by NWPO regarding impact identification, reclamation and monitoring activities proposed by DOE in Section 8.7 of the Draft Site Characterization Plan of December 1988 and the Environmental Monitoring and Mitigation Plan (EMMP) of December 1988.
