This paper reports that manganese acetyl complexes(L)(CO){sub 4} MnC(O)CH{sub 3} [L = PPh{sub 3}, (1); CO, (2)] catalyze the hydrosilation of esters RC(=O)OR` to give successively silyl acetal RCH(OSiR{sub 3})OR`, then ether RCH{sub 2}OR`{sup 4} or alkoxysilane products RCH{sub 2}OSiR{sub 3}and R`OSiR{sub 3}. 11 refs., 1 tab.
