The physicochemical behavior of {open_quotes}hot{close_quotes} {sup 113m}In impurity atoms during structural transitions in metallic Sn is studied using the shift of secular radioactive equilibrium, secondary-electron Mossbauer spectroscopy, and X-ray phase analysis. The observed anomalies of the impurities, their accelerated migration to regions of low temperature, and emanation into the gas phase at submelting temperatures result from thermally induced reconstructive surface phase transitions.
