A review of ceramic powder compositions and their manufacturing routes

The selection of a proper powder is a very important strategic decision for a ceramic component manufacturing company. Performance, processing conditions, and cost of ownership of the powder composition are critical parameters to consider. This paper gives a brief summary of commercially available ceramic powder compositions for producing capacitor, filter and resonator components. Highlights and technical issues of each composition category are presented for discussion. Various routes to produce the powders and future demands in powder performance and quality are discussed.
