Cr3CdTe4 is Lavarevi\'{c}ite structured and crystallizes in the cubic P-43m space group. The structure is three-dimensional. Cr2+ is bonded to four equivalent Te2- atoms to form CrTe4 tetrahedra that share corners with four equivalent CdTe4 tetrahedra and corners with eight equivalent CrTe4 tetrahedra. All Cr–Te bond lengths are 2.71 Å. Cd2+ is bonded to four equivalent Te2- atoms to form CdTe4 tetrahedra that share corners with twelve equivalent CrTe4 tetrahedra. All Cd–Te bond lengths are 2.88 Å. Te2- is bonded to three equivalent Cr2+ and one Cd2+ atom to form corner-sharing TeCr3Cd tetrahedra.
