Yb3V is Uranium Silicide structured and crystallizes in the cubic Pm-3m space group. The structure is three-dimensional. Yb is bonded to eight equivalent Yb and four equivalent V atoms to form distorted YbYb8V4 cuboctahedra that share corners with twelve equivalent YbYb8V4 cuboctahedra, edges with eight equivalent VYb12 cuboctahedra, edges with sixteen equivalent YbYb8V4 cuboctahedra, faces with four equivalent VYb12 cuboctahedra, and faces with fourteen equivalent YbYb8V4 cuboctahedra. All Yb–Yb bond lengths are 3.53 Å. All Yb–V bond lengths are 3.53 Å. V is bonded to twelve equivalent Yb atoms to form VYb12 cuboctahedra that share corners with twelve equivalent VYb12 cuboctahedra, edges with twenty-four equivalent YbYb8V4 cuboctahedra, faces with six equivalent VYb12 cuboctahedra, and faces with twelve equivalent YbYb8V4 cuboctahedra.
