Materials Data on ZnGeO3 by Materials Project
ZnGeO3 is Ilmenite structured and crystallizes in the trigonal R-3 space group. The structure is three-dimensional. Zn2+ is bonded in a 6-coordinate geometry to six equivalent O2- atoms. There are three shorter (2.02 Å) and three longer (2.34 Å) Zn–O bond lengths. Ge4+ is bonded to six equivalent O2- atoms to form edge-sharing GeO6 octahedra. There is three shorter (1.90 Å) and three longer (1.96 Å) Ge–O bond length. O2- is bonded in a distorted see-saw-like geometry to two equivalent Zn2+ and two equivalent Ge4+ atoms.
