A recent achievement on NDE of crevice corrosion is described. Electronic Speckle Pattern Interferometry (ESPI) was employed to reveal the existence of crevice corrosion which is hardly detectable from outside by visual inspection. The ESPI setup described here is for measurement of out-of plane displacement. Both thermal loading and vacuum loading were used. The anomaly of fringe pattern tells the existence of crevice corrosion hidden in between the two plates which compose the specimen. Not only the location of defects, but also the approximate size can be estimated.
