Title: Materials Data on PtCl4 by Materials Project

PtCl4 is Silicon tetrafluoride-like structured and crystallizes in the trigonal R-3 space group. The structure is zero-dimensional and consists of twenty-four platinum(iv) chloride molecules. Pt4+ is bonded in a tetrahedral geometry to four Cl1- atoms. All Pt–Cl bond lengths are 2.27 Å. There are two inequivalent Cl1- sites. In the first Cl1- site, Cl1- is bonded in a single-bond geometry to one Pt4+ atom. In the second Cl1- site, Cl1- is bonded in a single-bond geometry to one Pt4+ atom.
