Pt2CuGa crystallizes in the tetragonal P4/mmm space group. The structure is three-dimensional. Pt2- is bonded in a distorted body-centered cubic geometry to four equivalent Cu1+ and four equivalent Ga3+ atoms. All Pt–Cu bond lengths are 2.69 Å. All Pt–Ga bond lengths are 2.69 Å. Cu1+ is bonded in a body-centered cubic geometry to eight equivalent Pt2- atoms. Ga3+ is bonded in a body-centered cubic geometry to eight equivalent Pt2- atoms.
