A new class of high temperature thermosetting isocyanate/epoxy resins have been successfully processed via Variable Frequency Microwave Energy. Considerable reduction in the curing time is brought about by the presence of the oscillating microwave electric field. Glass transition measurements were performed for both samples cured under fixed and variable frequency irradiation. A finite difference time domain (FDTD) technique models the electric field distribution inside the microwave cavity as well as inside the processed materials. The numerical technique is used for preliminary modeling of different dielectric materials.
