PVM (Parallel Virtual Machine) has become the de facto vehicle for implementing parallel programs on networks of workstations. This paper introduces the PVM version of AIMS (Automated Instrumentation and Monitoring System), a performance-debugging toolkit whose views clearly show the impact of workstation-based computing environments on the execution of message-passing parallel programs.
