This paper presents an overview of an Air Sparging System Pilot Study conducted at a major military base. The Air Sparging System Pilot Study was conducted in conjunction with two other studies, soil vapor extraction and free product recovery system, to establish parameters necessary for the design of the full scale remedial system. The goal of the pilot study, part of a Time Critical Response to a JP-4 jet fuel and aviation gasoline leak, was to determine if the combination of these three technologies would be appropriate to remediate the site. The objective of the studies included gathering sufficient performance data to design a full scale system to remediation the contaminated soil at the site as well as the contaminated groundwater directly underneath the site.
