A microscopic calculation of the intrinsic orbital angular momentum is {sup 3}He-A is given that includes the effect of backflow currents in the superfluid. Our result is L{sub 0}=(p-C{sub 0}){h_bar}/2, where p is the total particle number density and C{sub 0}=P{sub f}{sup 3}/3{pi}{sup 2}. the calculation shows that the bare quasiparticles contribute p{h_bar}/2 to L{sup 0} and the backflow currents provide the remaining -C{sup 0}{h_bar}/2. On the basis of this result, a way is proposed to understand past disagreement in calculations of the intrinsic orbital angular momentum.
